This summer was one for the record books! YOU Boston recruited record numbers of youth employees for our Summer Program, with over 55 work team employees and over 45 individual placement interns! Each of our teams and interns worked hard, developed their job skills and readiness, and had fun! Check out some of the pictures below to see what it’s like to work for YOU Boston during the summer.
Summer Recognition Event
Our annual Summer Recognition event with Mayor Walsh was a blast! We heard from the Mayor, various Community Partners, YOU Boston staff and youth about the impact our program has had! At the end of the event, we all got the chance to watch a photo slideshow of the summer while enjoying some delicious food!
Brookwood Farm Team
Our Brookwood Farm team spent the summer weeding, planting, and harvesting vegetables on a community farm! They had a lot of fun working and brought back some delicious vegetables as well!
DCR Framingham Team
Our DCR Framingham Team spent the summer constructing and painting accessible picnic tables for state parks! They had a great time working with new tools and techniques, and even got to paint a few of their own picnic tables
Mass. Horticultural Society Team
Our Massachusetts Horticultural Society Team spent their summer landscaping some of the beautiful property owned by the Society. They learned valuable vegetation management skills and had fun along the way!
Marine Industrial Park Team
Our Marine Industrial Park (MIP) Team spent the summer painting and conducting general improvements around the MIP! They learned valuable painting and maintenance skills and enjoyed their time working together!
Charlestown Navy Yard Team
Our Charlestown Navy Yard Team spent the summer improving and re-painting the various facilities at the Navy Yard. They got to spend every day with some of the best views of the summer, and learned some valuable skills as well!
Schoolyard Team 1
The first of our Summer Schoolyard Teams worked on various schools in Hyde Park. They cleaned up yards, disposed of weeds and trash, and improved the facilities for the fall students! They really enjoyed improving the community!
Schoolyard Team 2
Our second Schoolyard Team spent their summer at schools in East Boston. They also conducted general maintenance and cleanup of each schoolyard and helped to improve the community!
